Remote music therapy services: What are they and what could they be?

Kela, the Social Insurance Institution of Finland, has established targeted research funding 2021 under Section 12 of the KKRL Act. One of the funded studies is a review of remote music therapy in intensive medical rehabilitation, which will be investigated by researchers Taru Koivisto and Päivi Saukko.

One important aspect of this topic is how challenging it has been to provide online music therapy services in recent decades. Remote music therapy services have stepped into the digital era due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and music therapy telerehabilitation is currently a constantly evolving public service. The research report will be published in Finnish, and English summary will be provided.

Besides Tarumusiikki, for example the Rehabilitation Foundation (Kuntoutussäätiö) and the University of Jyväskylä also received Kela research funding for conducting reviews on the role of telerehabilitation in different types of therapy.
